Home

Over 5 weeks have passed since the pups were born and they have finally all been rehoused. The six pups all survived and they have been sexed and divided up as best we could. Of the 6, two are boys and of course 4 are girls.

Two of the girls will be staying with the mother Bobbi and they have now been named, Katie and Roxy. They are settling in just fine.

Who pooed on the towel?
Where did the others go?
What chaos and destruction can we cause today?
That was hard work, I fancy having a quick nap
Oh look they come in different colours!
Whatever!
Quick lets make a run for it
Where is the food I was promised?
Iggy will not now get a soul mate but we are planning to put the cages in close proximity.

Chris kept two of the boys, and the other other 2 girls have found a nice new home and hopefully all will be happy in their new environments.

Holiday Snaps

Iggy on Holiday in Macclesfield
When I went on Holiday the hamster went to stay with friends of the family. These are the pictures from that week.

Go on then love, give us a kiss.

Babies

Babies 2 days old
I have still not seen the babies, but I have received several photos to show how they are developing.

Babies 6 days old
The babies are starting to develop a colouring, and I wonder what colour the babies will be. 2 or 3 of them look to be dark brown or black.

Holiday Surprise

I have just got back from my summer holiday with my family, and we stopped to pickup the hamsters from friends of the family that had agreed to look after Iggy and Bob.

I went upstairs with my sister and was immediately able to see some pink objects moving around in the hamster house. My sister ran to see our parents claiming that there were baby hamsters in the cage.

My parents would not believe my sister, because 2 boy hamsters cannot have babies. My dad looked inside the house and confirmed that Bob was indeed feeding her litter. The pups could only just be seen underneath their mother, and Iggy was running around very excitedly.

An emergency cage was quickly made and Iggy was separated from his young family, in case he chose to kill the pups, if the scent on the babies was affected by human smells.

Bob or Bobbi as she is now known is being cared for by Chris, who has previously raised Hamsters and other rodents before. My mum and dad think that this is the best thing for Bobbi, but now that we have been home for 2 days, my sister is missing Bobbi very much. It will be at least 4 weeks before Bobbi can come home.

The number of pups is between 5 and 6, and so far Chris would like to keep 2 as payment for rearing them, and my sister and I would like to keep 2 babies as companions for the separated Iggy and Bobbi.

Iggy, Bob and Me

Hello, I am Bob
I am James, and I really like caring for my Russian Dwarf Hamsters. Once a week I clean out the cage, and it is very smelly. When I clean the cage the hamsters are placed in individual hamsterballs. They like to run around as fast as possible and very get very excited and make lots of hamster droppings. When the cage is cleaned I need to washout the hamsterballs which also get very smelly.

Hamsters are really smelly, but I love them.

Iggy likes to be held all the time, but Bob is a little shy and likes to nibble at my fingers.

Hello, I am Iggy

Hello

Hello my name is James, and I am 8 years old. This is my blog about my dwarf Russian hamsters called Iggy and Bob. Iggy is my hamster and he is brown in colour and Bob is my sister's white hamster.

My mother chose dwarf Russian Hamsters because they are small and easy to hold and only have small teeth so that if they bite, it does not hurt too much. We chose 2 boy hamsters because they are less likely  to fight than girls, and we didn't want to have any baby hamsters in 20-36 days.

Hamsters are nocturnal and that means they are more active at night, which is a real shame because I am in bed when they are most active
